The Retrofit42 Intensity system features a robust support structure, identified as FT42RF, constructed from 1/4” thick steel and finished with a silver powder coat. This structure is specifically designed to bolt into the backside of several 42” tall backboards manufactured by First Team, Inc. It also provides vertical mounting slots, enabling the backboard to be mounted to most poles that have a faceplate of at least 6”x6”, though drilling may be required. Additionally, the structure includes adequate rim support to protect against backboard breakage when players hang from the rim.
The backboard itself is a 42”x72” rectangular aluminum unit, featuring a 10 gauge skin and a 1/4” thick rear support strap structure. Its corners and edges are fully welded and ground for safety, while the face is punched with 3/8” holes, excluding a 2” border and the shooters square area, all covered with a white powder coat. This backboard is designed to accept rims with a 5”x5” hole pattern and is manufactured in the USA. The standard rim included is made from double 5/8” diameter high strength steel, fabricated with 3/16” backplates and side plates that are fully welded, and secured at a minimum of six points. The entire rim is powder coated orange and incorporates a net locking system that supports both nylon and chain nets, with a nylon net included.
