The First Team RetroFit42 kit features a robust 1/4” thick steel support structure, powder coated silver, designed to bolt into the backside of several 42” tall First Team, Inc. backboards. This structure includes vertical mounting slots for poles with at least a 6”x6” faceplate and provides adequate rim support to prevent backboard breakage.

The backboard is a 42”x72” rectangular aluminum unit with a 10 gauge skin and a ¼” rear support strap structure. Its formed corners and edges are fully welded and ground for safety. The backboard face is punched with 3/8” holes, excluding a 2” border and the shooters square area, and is coated with white powder coat. It accepts rims with a 5”x5” hole pattern and is manufactured in the USA.

The standard rim included is fabricated from 3/16” backplates and side plates, fully welded, and constructed from double 5/8” diameter high strength steel welded at a minimum of six places. It features a net locking system for nylon or chain nets, with a nylon net included, and is powder coated orange. The entire system has an approximate weight of 167# and comes with a Lifetime Limited Warranty covering the support structure, backboard, and standard rim.

Lifetime Limited Warranty

Every First Team product is backed by First Team's warranty program. This model carries the warranty noted above. Here is what First Team's warranty tiers cover:

Limited Warranty - covers damage during normal, intended use. Excludes vandalism and deliberate damage. Normal wear from weathering or UV exposure is not covered; all painted items carry a 1-year limited warranty on coating.
Superior Warranty - additionally covers any damage or failure caused by basketball activity or contact with the unit, including deliberate hanging on the rim. Vandalism excluded.
Unconditional Warranty - the broadest tier: covers any damage or failure that occurs for any reason.
Manufacturer's Defect - all products are warranted against manufacturer's defects at delivery.

Warranties apply to the original purchaser only and are non-transferable; coverage ends on resale or transfer. Residential-only products are not covered for non-residential use.
