In short

The Gared 2500 is a Collegiate series tournament breakaway basketball goal with an enclosed positive lock mechanism, an official 18" ring of 5/8" diameter steel and a tube tie net attachment. It is factory set to deflect at 140 lbs and preset to a 50% to 52% Fair Court measurement, meeting NCAA and NFSHSA specifications. The universal back plate fits most 42" and 48" rectangular and fan shape backboards, and an anti-whip net and hardware are included.

The Collegiate series is Gared's most popular rim line and the 2500 is built for power players. The enclosed positive lock mechanism duplicates precision fly-back action dunk after dunk, and the goal is designed so that any possible entrapment areas have been eliminated. The tube tie net attachment helps prevent hand injuries.

The ring is official size at 18" diameter, formed from 5/8" diameter steel and finished in durable orange powder coat. An anti-whip net and mounting hardware are included. The universal back plate accommodates most 42" and 48" rectangular and fan shape backboards, including models such as LXP4200, AFRG42, RG, AFRG48, FSGII, 1301B, 1342B, 1370B, 1401B, 1442B, 3010RG, 3011RG, ARG, 3050RG, BB48A38, BB60A38, BB60G38, BB72A38, BB72G50 and GP72422.

The goal meets NCAA and NFSHSA specifications and is factory set to deflect at 140 lbs with a 50% to 52% Fair Court measurement. NCAA requires 35% to 50% on the goal with goals on the playing court within 5% of one another, and the vertical springs can be adjusted equally to bring a rim into range. During installation, stud nuts are torqued to 9 to 11 ft-lbs and all bolt nuts to 15 to 20 ft-lbs. Twice a year the cover plate should be removed and the swing rod and bushings sprayed with penetrating lubricant.

Warranty

4-Year Limited Warranty (2500/2500I Tournament Breakaway Goals)

Gared Holdings LLC warrants its equipment against defects in material or factory workmanship. Coverage length depends on the product line — this model carries the warranty noted above where listed. Gared's warranty periods run as follows:

Lifetime - Endurance playground systems: in-ground post, extension arm and bracing components.
25 years - Standard Duty and Heavy Duty playground posts (braced gooseneck and adjustable straight post structures).
10 years - volleyball uprights on OmniSteel, OmniLite, RallyLine and GoCourt systems, and economy playground posts.
5 years - FGP series football goalposts, manual and electric winches, curtain hoists and the SafStop gymnasium structure.
4 years - 2500 / 2500I Tournament breakaway goals.
3 years - winch assemblies, floor sleeves and cover plates, and regulation volleyball nets.
2 years - portable winch winders and selected backboards.
1 year - nets, padding, base adapters, height adjusters, badminton and tetherball systems, referee stands and accessories.

The warranty period starts on the date of substantial completion (installation). Defects must be reported to Gared in writing during the warranty period with proof of purchase and the purchase or installation date; Gared will repair or replace the defective equipment at its discretion, with shipping, insurance and installation costs borne by the owner.

Not covered: improper installation, use other than intended, unauthorized alterations or modifications, abuse or misuse, and damage from fire, flood, wind or lightning. Liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective equipment. As an authorized Gared dealer, JoySportStore files warranty claims directly with the manufacturer on your behalf.

Is the 2500 goal NCAA legal?

Yes. It is designed and manufactured to meet all NCAA and NFSHSA specifications, and its adjustable positive lock mechanism complies with the NCAA rim elasticity rule. It leaves the factory set to deflect at 140 lbs with a 50% to 52% Fair Court measurement.

Which backboards does the 2500 fit?

The universal back plate accommodates most 42" and 48" rectangular and fan shape backboards, including glass boards, so the Collegiate series fits virtually any size glass backboard.

Can the rim elasticity be adjusted after installation?

Yes. After confirming the rim and backboard are tight, both vertical springs are adjusted equally in 1/2 turn steps; one turn changes the measurement by about 1% to 1.5%. Never move any spring nut more than 1/4" from its factory position.
