The First Team FT196 Full-Tilt 180 Breakaway Goal is constructed with a 5/8” diameter steel ring, maintaining an official 18” inside diameter. It features a continuous wire net lock attachment and employs Flush-Mount construction. The backplate components are made from 1/4” thick steel and are punched for mounting to any backboard without below board protrusion. A ¼” x 1 ½” steel support brace provides continuous support around 60% of the ring.

This goal features a positive lock breakaway mechanism, factory preset, with an automatic return provided by three heavy-duty wire return springs that also cushion the breakaway action. The breakaway pressure is managed by two hardened steel balls contained in a tubular assembly, ensuring proper breakaway action when downward pressure exceeding the factory setting is applied within 90 left or right of center. Player safety is enhanced by the elimination of all pinch points, and all components are finished with an official orange powder coat.

The FT196 goal meets all applicable NCAA, FIBA, and NHSF rules, including the NCAA Men’s Division I rule regarding elasticity testing. It is made in the USA and includes a white nylon net and mounting hardware. The rim weighs approximately 30# and is backed by a 7-Year Superior Warranty.

7-Year Superior Warranty

Every First Team product is backed by First Team's warranty program. This model carries the warranty noted above. Here is what First Team's warranty tiers cover:

Limited Warranty - covers damage during normal, intended use. Excludes vandalism and deliberate damage. Normal wear from weathering or UV exposure is not covered; all painted items carry a 1-year limited warranty on coating.
Superior Warranty - additionally covers any damage or failure caused by basketball activity or contact with the unit, including deliberate hanging on the rim. Vandalism excluded.
Unconditional Warranty - the broadest tier: covers any damage or failure that occurs for any reason.
Manufacturer's Defect - all products are warranted against manufacturer's defects at delivery.

Warranties apply to the original purchaser only and are non-transferable; coverage ends on resale or transfer. Residential-only products are not covered for non-residential use.
