The First Team FT196 Full-Tilt 180 Breakaway Goal is constructed with a 5/8” diameter steel ring and an official 18” inside diameter, featuring a continuous wire net lock attachment. Its backplate components are made of 1/4” thick steel and employ Flush-Mount construction for mounting to any backboard without below-board protrusion. The rim support brace is ¼” x 1 ½” steel, providing continuous support around 60% of the ring. All components are finished with an official orange powder coating, and the goal weighs approximately 30#.

This goal incorporates a positive lock breakaway mechanism, factory preset, with an automatic return provided by three heavy-duty wire return springs that cushion the breakaway action. The mechanism includes two hardened steel balls in a tubular assembly with a detent, ensuring proper breakaway pressure. The ring assembly pivots downward when pressure exceeding the factory setting is applied within 90 degrees left or right of center. For player safety, all pinch points are eliminated.

7-Year Superior Warranty

Every First Team product is backed by First Team's warranty program. This model carries the warranty noted above. Here is what First Team's warranty tiers cover:

Limited Warranty - covers damage during normal, intended use. Excludes vandalism and deliberate damage. Normal wear from weathering or UV exposure is not covered; all painted items carry a 1-year limited warranty on coating.
Superior Warranty - additionally covers any damage or failure caused by basketball activity or contact with the unit, including deliberate hanging on the rim. Vandalism excluded.
Unconditional Warranty - the broadest tier: covers any damage or failure that occurs for any reason.
Manufacturer's Defect - all products are warranted against manufacturer's defects at delivery.

Warranties apply to the original purchaser only and are non-transferable; coverage ends on resale or transfer. Residential-only products are not covered for non-residential use.
