In short

The Gared AABS60 is a heavy-duty 5-9/16" O.D. galvanized straight post with a 5' extension arm for outdoor playground and park basketball courts. The arm gives a 60" safe play distance and can be raised or lowered on site with two 1/2" U-bolts, so younger players can use the same court. Backboard and goal are not included - the post accepts most outdoor front-mounted boards and rims.

Creating an outdoor basketball court for rigorous games starts with the AABS60 5-9/16" O.D. straight basketball post with 5' extension arm. The extension arm provides a generous 60" safe play distance and includes a V-brace to reduce backboard vibration plus an additional strut for increased rigidity. The beefy post can withstand the weight requirements of any outdoor backboard and rim combination.

Height adjustment is built into the design: the 4-1/2" O.D. galvanized extension arm is secured to the vertical post by two 1/2" diameter U-bolts, so the arm can be moved up or down on site for younger kids. Two braces run from the upper mounting points of the backboard to the post-strut attachment for added rigidity, and the arm extends 58-1/2" out from the vertical post to the goal mounting plate.

Posts, arm, strut and braces are galvanized steel. The post must extend at least 36" into a concrete footing, and the footing itself is a minimum of 48" deep; concrete is supplied by others and the foundation should be reviewed against local wind loads and soil conditions. Backboard and goal are ordered separately - the AABS60 works with most outdoor front-mounted boards and goals, and a PP6WR wrap-around pole pad is available.

Warranty

Lifetime Warranty against defects in material or factory workmanship

Gared Holdings LLC warrants its equipment against defects in material or factory workmanship. Coverage length depends on the product line — this model carries the warranty noted above where listed. Gared's warranty periods run as follows:

Lifetime - Endurance playground systems: in-ground post, extension arm and bracing components.
25 years - Standard Duty and Heavy Duty playground posts (braced gooseneck and adjustable straight post structures).
10 years - volleyball uprights on OmniSteel, OmniLite, RallyLine and GoCourt systems, and economy playground posts.
5 years - FGP series football goalposts, manual and electric winches, curtain hoists and the SafStop gymnasium structure.
4 years - 2500 / 2500I Tournament breakaway goals.
3 years - winch assemblies, floor sleeves and cover plates, and regulation volleyball nets.
2 years - portable winch winders and selected backboards.
1 year - nets, padding, base adapters, height adjusters, badminton and tetherball systems, referee stands and accessories.

The warranty period starts on the date of substantial completion (installation). Defects must be reported to Gared in writing during the warranty period with proof of purchase and the purchase or installation date; Gared will repair or replace the defective equipment at its discretion, with shipping, insurance and installation costs borne by the owner.

Not covered: improper installation, use other than intended, unauthorized alterations or modifications, abuse or misuse, and damage from fire, flood, wind or lightning. Liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective equipment. As an authorized Gared dealer, JoySportStore files warranty claims directly with the manufacturer on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions

Does the AABS60 include a backboard and rim?

No. The AABS60 is supplied as a post, extension arm, brace and strut assembly with no board or goal. It is designed to accept most outdoor front-mounted backboards and goals, which are ordered separately.

How is the backboard height adjusted?

The extension arm is attached to the vertical post with two 1/2" diameter U-bolts. Loosening them lets the arm be repositioned on the post so the unit can be set lower for younger players.

What footing does the post require?

The post must extend at least 36" into the concrete footing, and the footing must be a minimum of 48" deep. Concrete is supplied by others, and the foundation size shown is a minimum that should be reviewed using local wind loads and soil conditions.
