The Gared 3500 Master is a positive lock breakaway basketball goal built for competition play. The Master 3500 is the heavy-duty end of Gared's breakaway goal range, intended for facilities where the rim takes constant competitive and dunk loading. The enclosed positive lock mechanism uses heat-treated hardened springs and dual return springs to snap the rim back to playing position, and it has been tested up to 31,000 cycles with no deformation at loads up to 1400 lbs.

The ring is an official 18" diameter (457.2 mm) hoop formed from 5/8" diameter steel rod, supported by a continuous welded full wrap wing brace. A continuous no-tie tube-tie ring is used for net attachment to help prevent hand injuries, and the goal is finished in official orange powder coat with an anti-whip nylon net and mounting hardware included.

Mounting is handled by a 5.00" x 7.00" universal plate that matches hole patterns for most 42" and 48" rectangular backboards and most fan-shaped backboards. The goal meets NCAA and NFSHSA specifications and complies with the NCAA rim elasticity rule; three adjustment points (two vertical return springs and one horizontal breakaway spring) let a facility fine-tune the Fair Court reading, which leaves the factory at 40% to 44%.

Warranty

10-Year Breakaway Mechanism / 4-Year Rim Components Limited Warranty

Gared Holdings LLC warrants its equipment against defects in material or factory workmanship. Coverage length depends on the product line — this model carries the warranty noted above where listed. Gared's warranty periods run as follows:

Lifetime - Endurance playground systems: in-ground post, extension arm and bracing components.
25 years - Standard Duty and Heavy Duty playground posts (braced gooseneck and adjustable straight post structures).
10 years - volleyball uprights on OmniSteel, OmniLite, RallyLine and GoCourt systems, and economy playground posts.
5 years - FGP series football goalposts, manual and electric winches, curtain hoists and the SafStop gymnasium structure.
4 years - 2500 / 2500I Tournament breakaway goals.
3 years - winch assemblies, floor sleeves and cover plates, and regulation volleyball nets.
2 years - portable winch winders and selected backboards.
1 year - nets, padding, base adapters, height adjusters, badminton and tetherball systems, referee stands and accessories.

The warranty period starts on the date of substantial completion (installation). Defects must be reported to Gared in writing during the warranty period with proof of purchase and the purchase or installation date; Gared will repair or replace the defective equipment at its discretion, with shipping, insurance and installation costs borne by the owner.

Not covered: improper installation, use other than intended, unauthorized alterations or modifications, abuse or misuse, and damage from fire, flood, wind or lightning. Liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective equipment. As an authorized Gared dealer, JoySportStore files warranty claims directly with the manufacturer on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions

Which backboards does the Gared 3500 rim fit?

The universal goal mounting plate fits hole patterns for most 42" and 48" rectangular backboards and most fan-shaped backboards. Gared lists compatible models including LXP4200, AFRG42, AFRG48, FSGII, 1301B, 1342B, 1370B, 1401B, 1442B, 3010RG, 3011RG, 3050RG, BB48A38, BB60A38, BB60G38, BB72A38, BB72G50 and GP72422.

Can the breakaway setting be adjusted?

Yes. There are three adjustment points: two vertical return springs and one horizontal breakaway spring, adjusted with a 9/16" wrench and 7/32" Allen wrench. One complete turn of the horizontal spring nut changes the Fair Court measurement by 1% to 1.7%, and one turn of the vertical springs changes it by 1% to 1.5%. Never move any spring nut more than 1/4" from its original factory position.

What maintenance does the goal need?

Twice a year, remove the cover plate and spray the swing rod and bushings with penetrating lubricant (Gared recommends Lock-Ease graphite spray). Annually, remove the cover plate and inspect moving components for wear, welds for cracks and the goal for overall condition.
