The GN45 is Gared's standard-duty playground gooseneck post, designed to complete outdoor basketball courts at schools, municipal parks and recreation facilities. The post is 4-1/2" O.D. galvanized steel tube with a 0.18" wall and a traditional curved gooseneck profile at a fixed height.
The 4' extension arm sets the backboard 48" back from the post, keeping the pole out of the safe play area under the rim. A mounting plate on the arm acts as a direct goal attachment for the backboard, and two braces running from the upper backboard mounting points down to the gooseneck extension add rigidity and cut vibration. Braces are used with fan style mounts; the arm supports a backboard and rim weighing up to 100 pounds combined.
Installation is permanent. The post must extend at least 36" into a concrete footing, and the footing itself must be a minimum of 24" in diameter and 48" deep. Concrete is supplied by the installer. The GN45 is a front-mount system and works with Gared outdoor front mount boards and goals; the PP4WR wrap-around pole pad is available as an accessory. Gared warrants the braced gooseneck post for 25 years.
