In short

The Gared AAB45R is a 4-1/2" O.D. galvanized steel straight basketball post with a height-adjustable horizontal extension arm, for outdoor playground courts using rear-mount boards. Two 1/2" U-bolts clamp the arm to the post so the height can be changed on site for younger players. It carries a rear-mount fan-shape steel backboard and goal up to 100 pounds combined.

The AAB45R is the rear-mount, adjustable-height post in Gared's Standard Duty Playground line. It pairs a straight 4-1/2" O.D. galvanized vertical post with a top cap and a horizontal extension arm of 3-1/2" O.D. galvanized tubing that reaches 46-1/2" out from the post.

Height is set with two 1/2" diameter U-bolts securing the arm to the post, so the rim can be lowered for younger players and raised again for regular play. Two braces run from the upper mounting points of the backboard to the extension arm, adding rigidity and reducing vibration; the braces are for fan-style mounts. The mounting plate is a direct goal attachment and the system takes most outdoor rear mounted boards and goals up to 100 pounds combined.

Concrete is supplied by others: the post must extend at least 36" into the footing, which should be a minimum 36" in diameter and 48" deep, with the size reviewed against local wind loads and soil conditions. Posts, arm and braces are galvanized steel. A PP4WR wrap-around pole pad is available and the post ships by truck at 318 lbs.

Warranty

25-Year Limited Warranty on materials and factory workmanship

Gared Holdings LLC warrants its equipment against defects in material or factory workmanship. Coverage length depends on the product line — this model carries the warranty noted above where listed. Gared's warranty periods run as follows:

Lifetime - Endurance playground systems: in-ground post, extension arm and bracing components.
25 years - Standard Duty and Heavy Duty playground posts (braced gooseneck and adjustable straight post structures).
10 years - volleyball uprights on OmniSteel, OmniLite, RallyLine and GoCourt systems, and economy playground posts.
5 years - FGP series football goalposts, manual and electric winches, curtain hoists and the SafStop gymnasium structure.
4 years - 2500 / 2500I Tournament breakaway goals.
3 years - winch assemblies, floor sleeves and cover plates, and regulation volleyball nets.
2 years - portable winch winders and selected backboards.
1 year - nets, padding, base adapters, height adjusters, badminton and tetherball systems, referee stands and accessories.

The warranty period starts on the date of substantial completion (installation). Defects must be reported to Gared in writing during the warranty period with proof of purchase and the purchase or installation date; Gared will repair or replace the defective equipment at its discretion, with shipping, insurance and installation costs borne by the owner.

Not covered: improper installation, use other than intended, unauthorized alterations or modifications, abuse or misuse, and damage from fire, flood, wind or lightning. Liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective equipment. As an authorized Gared dealer, JoySportStore files warranty claims directly with the manufacturer on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions

How is the height adjusted on the AAB45R?

The extension arm is clamped to the vertical post by two 1/2" diameter U-bolts. Loosening them allows the arm to be raised or lowered on site, so younger players can use a lower rim.
