In short

The Gared GNA45 is a 4-1/2" O.D. galvanized steel gooseneck basketball post with a 4' (48") extension arm, built for outdoor playground and park courts. It is the unbraced version, made for front-mount backboards and goals weighing up to 100 pounds combined. The post is supplied on its own - backboard, goal and concrete footing are not included.

Gared's Standard Duty Playground gooseneck posts are made for permanent outdoor installation at schools, parks and community courts. The GNA45 uses the traditional curved gooseneck profile with a fixed playing height, built from 4-1/2" O.D. x 0.18" wall galvanized steel tube for weather and heavy public use.

The gooseneck extension carries the backboard 48" out from the post so play under the basket stays clear of the pole. A mounting plate on the arm serves as the direct goal attachment for a front-mount backboard and goal, with a combined weight limit of 100 pounds. This is the unbraced model - Gared specifies the braced GN45 instead if the backboard is wider than 36".

Installation is into a concrete footing supplied by others: the post must extend at least 36" into the footing, and the footing should be a minimum of 24" in diameter and 48" deep. A PP4WR wrap-around pole pad is offered as an accessory. The post ships by truck at 130 lbs.

Warranty

25-Year Limited Warranty on materials and factory workmanship

Gared Holdings LLC warrants its equipment against defects in material or factory workmanship. Coverage length depends on the product line — this model carries the warranty noted above where listed. Gared's warranty periods run as follows:

Lifetime - Endurance playground systems: in-ground post, extension arm and bracing components.
25 years - Standard Duty and Heavy Duty playground posts (braced gooseneck and adjustable straight post structures).
10 years - volleyball uprights on OmniSteel, OmniLite, RallyLine and GoCourt systems, and economy playground posts.
5 years - FGP series football goalposts, manual and electric winches, curtain hoists and the SafStop gymnasium structure.
4 years - 2500 / 2500I Tournament breakaway goals.
3 years - winch assemblies, floor sleeves and cover plates, and regulation volleyball nets.
2 years - portable winch winders and selected backboards.
1 year - nets, padding, base adapters, height adjusters, badminton and tetherball systems, referee stands and accessories.

The warranty period starts on the date of substantial completion (installation). Defects must be reported to Gared in writing during the warranty period with proof of purchase and the purchase or installation date; Gared will repair or replace the defective equipment at its discretion, with shipping, insurance and installation costs borne by the owner.

Not covered: improper installation, use other than intended, unauthorized alterations or modifications, abuse or misuse, and damage from fire, flood, wind or lightning. Liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective equipment. As an authorized Gared dealer, JoySportStore files warranty claims directly with the manufacturer on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions

Does the GNA45 include a backboard and goal?

No. Gared's package chart lists the GNA45 as post only - board, goal and brace are all shown as "None". Pair it with a front-mount outdoor backboard and goal weighing no more than 100 pounds combined.

What size concrete footing does the GNA45 need?

The post must extend at least 36" into the concrete footing, and the footing must be at least 24" in diameter and 48" deep. Concrete for installation is not included.

When should I choose the braced GN45 instead?

Gared notes that if the backboard is greater than 36" wide, you should use the GN45 (front mount) or GN45R (rear mount) model, which add board braces from the backboard to the gooseneck extension.
