In short

The Gared GNA45R is an unbraced 4-1/2" O.D. galvanized steel gooseneck basketball post with a 4' (48") extension arm for outdoor playground courts. It is the rear-mount version, compatible only with rear-mount fan-shape steel backboards, and supports a board and rim weighing up to 100 pounds combined. Backboard, goal and concrete are not included.

The GNA45R is the unbraced, rear-mount gooseneck post in Gared's Standard Duty Playground range. The traditional curved gooseneck sets a fixed playing height, and the 4-1/2" O.D. x 0.18" wall galvanized tube is made for permanent outdoor duty at schools, parks and community courts.

The gooseneck carries the backboard 48" out from the post, giving a clear area for safe play under the basket, and the mounting plate acts as a direct goal attachment. Because this model has no board braces, Gared specifies it for boards up to 36" wide - for anything wider, the braced GN45R is the correct choice.

The post is set into a concrete footing supplied by others: at least 36" of embedment, footing a minimum 24" in diameter and 48" deep. Measured from the underside of the post arm to the playing surface, the rear-mount configuration sits at 9'-9" [2.972 m]. A PP4WR wrap-around pole pad is available; the post ships by truck at 130 lbs.

Warranty

25-Year Limited Warranty on materials and factory workmanship

Gared Holdings LLC warrants its equipment against defects in material or factory workmanship. Coverage length depends on the product line — this model carries the warranty noted above where listed. Gared's warranty periods run as follows:

Lifetime - Endurance playground systems: in-ground post, extension arm and bracing components.
25 years - Standard Duty and Heavy Duty playground posts (braced gooseneck and adjustable straight post structures).
10 years - volleyball uprights on OmniSteel, OmniLite, RallyLine and GoCourt systems, and economy playground posts.
5 years - FGP series football goalposts, manual and electric winches, curtain hoists and the SafStop gymnasium structure.
4 years - 2500 / 2500I Tournament breakaway goals.
3 years - winch assemblies, floor sleeves and cover plates, and regulation volleyball nets.
2 years - portable winch winders and selected backboards.
1 year - nets, padding, base adapters, height adjusters, badminton and tetherball systems, referee stands and accessories.

The warranty period starts on the date of substantial completion (installation). Defects must be reported to Gared in writing during the warranty period with proof of purchase and the purchase or installation date; Gared will repair or replace the defective equipment at its discretion, with shipping, insurance and installation costs borne by the owner.

Not covered: improper installation, use other than intended, unauthorized alterations or modifications, abuse or misuse, and damage from fire, flood, wind or lightning. Liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective equipment. As an authorized Gared dealer, JoySportStore files warranty claims directly with the manufacturer on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions

Which backboards fit the GNA45R?

It is the rear-mount model and works only with rear-mount fan-shape steel backboards and goals up to 100 pounds combined. The GNA45 is the equivalent front-mount post.

Do I need the braced GN45R instead?

Gared's guidance is that boards greater than 36" wide should use the braced GN45R rather than the unbraced GNA45R. The braced model adds two braces from the upper backboard mounting points to the gooseneck extension.

What concrete footing is required?

The post must extend at least 36" into the concrete footing, and that footing must be at least 24" in diameter and 48" deep. Concrete for installation is not included.
