The N68GB belongs to Jaypro's stationary wall-mounted backstop family, which also covers the N24GB, N46GB, N810GB and N1012GB units. Each model is built around a fixed steel frame that carries the glass backboard at a set distance off the wall, and the N68GB covers offsets in the six to eight foot range. Four horizontal frame pipes are supplied with the wall mount kit and are cut and drilled in the field so the frame matches the exact face of bank used on site.

Because the unit is permanently anchored, wall preparation drives the installation. The supporting wall must be brick, concrete or another solid or semi-solid masonry construction, and it has to carry the entire load of the backstop and accessories plus the additional loading created by a player dunking and hanging on the rim. Wall anchors are not supplied by Jaypro; the installer selects anchors of at least half an inch in diameter for the wall type present, with thru-bolting preferred wherever it is possible.

Chain supports stabilise the frame and are normally anchored to the bottom board attachments, which is the preferred method shown in the manual. They may instead be run to the top board attachments where site conditions demand it, and in every case the chains must sit at forty-five degrees or greater. Required wall height depends on both the offset and the chain arrangement, so the ceiling and upper wall structure should be checked before ordering. Annual preventive maintenance by a qualified technician keeps hardware tight and the system safe over its service life.

How much wall height does the N68GB need?

With the chains attached to the bottom of the frame, Jaypro lists 15' - 5" of wall height at a 6 ft. face of bank and 17' - 5" at an 8 ft. face of bank. If the chains are attached to the top of the frame instead, the requirement rises to 18' - 5" and 20' - 5" respectively.

Are wall anchors included with the backstop?

No. Jaypro does not ship wall anchors with wall-mounted equipment because wall construction varies so widely. The installer supplies anchors suited to the wall, with a minimum diameter of 1/2", and thru-bolting is preferred. Jaypro does stock the most common anchor types and can sell them directly.

Can the chain supports be attached to the top of the frame?

Yes. The manual shows attachment to the bottom board attachments as the preferred approach, but the chains can be run to the top board attachments if required, in which case 36" is added to DIM C. Either way the chains must be at 45 degrees or greater.
