The N46GB is the short-offset member of Jaypro's stationary wall-mounted backstop family, which also includes the N24GB, N68GB, N810GB and N1012GB. A fixed steel frame holds the glass backboard at a set distance from the wall, and this model covers offsets in the four to six foot range. The wall mount kit ships with four horizontal frame pipes that the installer cuts and drills on site so the frame matches the exact face of bank required.

Wall preparation is the critical part of the job. The supporting wall must be brick, concrete or another solid or semi-solid masonry construction and has to carry the entire load of the backstop and its accessories, plus the extra loading generated by a player dunking and hanging on the rim. Jaypro does not supply wall anchors, since suitable anchors depend entirely on the wall type; the installer selects anchors of at least half an inch in diameter and thru-bolts wherever possible.

Chain supports brace the frame back to the wall. The preferred arrangement anchors them at the bottom board attachments, with attachment at the top board attachments available where site conditions require it, and the chains must always sit at forty-five degrees or greater. At the shortest offset the bottom-chain arrangement is not offered, so available wall height should be confirmed before ordering. Annual preventive maintenance by a qualified technician keeps anchors and bolted connections tight through years of play.

How much wall height does the N46GB need?

With the chains attached to the top of the frame, Jaypro lists 16' - 5" of wall height at a 4 ft. face of bank and 18' - 5" at a 6 ft. face of bank. Attaching the chains to the bottom of the frame is not available at a 4 ft. face of bank, and requires 15' - 5" at a 6 ft. face of bank.

Are wall anchors included with the backstop?

No. Jaypro does not ship wall anchors with wall-mounted equipment because wall construction varies so widely. The installer supplies anchors suited to the wall, with a minimum diameter of 1/2", and thru-bolting is preferred. Jaypro stocks the most common anchor types and can sell them directly.

What kind of wall is required?

Wall composition must be brick, concrete or another form of solid or semi-solid masonry. Acoustical or sound block is the worst possible masonry type and must be filled solid at all attachment areas. If the wall is wood or steel studded, or obstructions make a standard installation impossible, Jaypro should be contacted for a custom engineered solution before work begins.
