The N810GB is one of the longer-offset units in Jaypro's stationary wall-mounted backstop family, alongside the N24GB, N46GB, N68GB and N1012GB. A fixed steel frame carries the glass backboard at a set distance from the wall, with this model covering the eight to ten foot range. Four horizontal frame pipes come with the wall mount kit and are cut and drilled in the field, since their length and hole pattern depend directly on the face of bank being built.

Longer offsets put more demand on the structure behind the backstop. The wall must be brick, concrete or another solid or semi-solid masonry construction, and it has to support the entire load of the backstop and accessories plus the extra loading of a player dunking and hanging on the rim. Jaypro supplies no wall anchors; the installer chooses anchors of at least half an inch in diameter to suit the wall, thru-bolting where possible, ideally at least twice per stringer with additional anchors alongside.

Chain supports triangulate the frame back to the structure and must always sit at forty-five degrees or greater. Anchoring them to the bottom board attachments is the preferred method, while attachment to the top board attachments is available where site conditions require it. Because required wall height climbs with the offset, the upper wall and ceiling should be checked before ordering; where height or structure is insufficient, chains can be taken to the ceiling structure using attachments designed by Jaypro. Annual preventive maintenance keeps hardware tight as building and play vibration works on the connections.

How much wall height does the N810GB need?

With the chains attached to the bottom of the frame, Jaypro lists 17' - 5" of wall height at an 8 ft. face of bank and 19' - 5" at a 10 ft. face of bank. If the chains are attached to the top of the frame instead, the requirement rises to 20' - 5" and 22' - 5" respectively.

What if the wall is not tall enough for the chain supports?

If there is not sufficient height, or the upper wall structure is not sound enough to hold the unit, the chains can be installed to the ceiling structure above. Jaypro Sports designs those attachments, so photos and dimensions of the ceiling structure should be ready when contacting them.

Are wall anchors included with the backstop?

No. Jaypro does not ship wall anchors with wall-mounted equipment because wall construction varies so widely. The installer supplies anchors suited to the wall, with a minimum diameter of 1/2", and thru-bolting is preferred. Jaypro stocks the most common anchor types and can sell them directly.
