The Ironclad Triple Threat TPT553-MD is designed for driveway installations or areas where play space is limited. Its 5" one-piece 7 gauge square post and 36" offset keep the backboard close to the post, reducing intrusion into the play area while remaining rigid enough for heavy dunking activity.

The unit uses a 1/2" thick tempered glass backboard measuring 54" x 36", paired with a breakaway flex rim and net for gymnasium-quality play. A spring-assist crank mechanism allows the backboard to be adjusted from 10' down to 5.5', with a rim height indicator for accuracy.

Every TPT553-MD ships with post and backboard padding, stainless steel assembly bolts, and Weather Shield protection consisting of a zinc galvanized undercoat topped with black powder coat paint. Installation uses a bolt-down anchor design, allowing the unit to be relocated if the owner moves, and delivery is made via liftgate.

Every Ironclad Sports basketball system is backed by the manufacturer's Lifetime Warranty. This model carries the warranty noted above. Here is what Ironclad's warranty covers:

Lifetime Warranty on the system - covers damage caused by any basketball related activity, including dunking and hanging on the rim.
GameChanger models - warrantied against dunking only.
Coating - all painted items carry a one-year limited warranty on the coating.
Padding - all post and backboard padding carries a one-year limited warranty.
Not covered - damage caused by vandalism, and normal wear and tear from weathering or UV exposure.

How much clearance is needed behind the unit if there's a wall?

Ironclad recommends allowing 18" of distance from the back of the post to any wall or obstruction for ease of cranking.

Can the hoop be moved if I relocate to a new home?

Yes, the bolt-down anchor base lets you disconnect the unit from its concrete footing and move it; new anchor bolts may be needed for re-installation.

What size backboard fits a typical driveway?

A two car driveway is best suited for a 54" backboard like this model, while larger driveways or backyard courts work better with 60" or 72" backboards.
