Adjustable Height Systems

Adjustable Height Basketball Systems for Every Court

An adjustable height system is an in-ground basketball goal whose backboard and rim can be raised or lowered on the pole, so the same hoop works for a young player learning the game and for a teenager or adult playing at a fuller height. Every model in this collection is listed as an in-ground goal, meaning it's designed to be anchored into a concrete footing rather than rolled around like a portable base. That permanent mounting is what allows the taller, heavier backboards in this lineup — including 42"x72" boards from Ironclad's FullCourt series — to stay rock-solid through repeated dunks and rebounds. With 59 active SKUs and pricing from $1,069 to $4,065, the range covers everything from an entry-level Dominator 72 Inch Basketball Hoop to multi-feature First Team Vector and Slam series goals.

Backboard Sizes, Poles & Offsets Explained

Backboard size is the first spec to check. This collection includes 36"x60", 42"x60", and 42"x72" boards from Ironclad's GameChanger and FullCourt lines, alongside 60" and 72" tempered-glass boards on the Jaypro Titan Adjustable systems. Larger boards give a more regulation-style rebound and look, while the smaller 36"x60" option suits tighter driveways or lower budgets. Pole and offset also matter for how far the hoop projects over the free-throw area: the Jaypro Titan is available with either a 6"x8" pole and 4' offset paired with the 72" glass board, or a 5"x5" pole and 3' offset paired with the 60" glass board. Jaypro's Titan units also come with Edge/Protec padding on the pole for added safety in playground settings — a detail worth noting if the system will see use by multiple kids at once.

Comparing First Team, Ironclad, Jaypro, Gared & Dominator

First Team is by far the deepest line here, with 32 models spanning the Jam, Slam, Vector, and Champ series in II, III, Select, Turbo, Nitro, and Eclipse trims, plus BP (backboard package) variants of many of those same models. That breadth means you can compare several backboard/rim/padding combinations within a single family rather than jumping brands. Ironclad's 12 models (FullCourt and GameChanger) focus on larger glass-style boards for players who want a bigger sweet spot to shoot at. Gared, with 9 models in the collection, and Jaypro, with 3 Titan configurations, round out the mid-to-upper end of the price span. Dominator's 2 listings, led by the 72 Inch Basketball Hoop, and the single Douglas model give budget-minded shoppers an entry point without stepping outside the in-ground, adjustable-height category.

Choosing the Right Adjustable Goal — Your "Triple Threat" of Height, Durability & Fit

Shoppers searching for a "triple threat basketball hoop" are usually after one goal that checks three boxes at once: real height adjustability, an in-ground mount that won't tip or drift, and a backboard/rim package sized for how the court will actually be used. That's the combination this whole collection is built around — every model adjusts, every model anchors permanently, and the backboard sizes range widely enough (36"x60" up to 42"x72") to fit a single-car driveway or a full home court. For households with younger kids, First Team's Six-Shooter Youth Training Goal is worth a look before stepping up to a full-size adjustable system. For programs or families outfitting a permanent court, the Jam, Slam, and Vector families from First Team, or the FullCourt line from Ironclad, offer more backboard and rim configurations to compare side by side.

Installing an In-Ground Adjustable Hoop

Because every system in this collection is an in-ground model, installation involves setting the pole into a concrete footing rather than filling a portable base with sand or water. That permanence is part of why these systems can support the larger glass and acrylic-style backboards up to 42"x72" without the wobble you'd get from a portable unit. If you're comparing options by price, the span across this collection — $1,069 up through $4,065 — generally tracks with backboard size, pole/offset configuration, and the number of adjustable-height positions the system offers, so it's worth matching those specs to your court size and player ages before choosing a model.
