Infielders & Pitcher Protectors

Pitch Protection for Bullpens and Batting Practice

Pitch protection starts with a screen that can take repeated line-drive contact without breaking down mid-practice. This collection includes Jaypro Pitcher's Screens in 7 ft. x 7 ft. softball and collegiate builds, 5 ft. x 7 ft. short-sided indoor screens for tight gym spaces, and 8 ft. x 8 ft. Big League Series screens for higher-velocity pitching. Bownet also offers its own Pitching Screen, a portable option built for teams that need to set up and break down quickly between fields or indoor cages. Whether you're running a high school bullpen or a college fall practice, matching screen size to your throwing distance and space constraints is the first step in outfitting a safe pitching station.

Short-Sided and Indoor Options

Programs working in batting cages or field houses with limited depth will want to look at the 5 ft.W x 7 ft.H short-sided screens. These indoor-oriented pitcher's screens (and their matching black replacement nets) are sized to fit tighter footprints without sacrificing the coverage a pitcher needs during live BP.

Field Protection for Infielders and Fungo Drills

Field protection extends beyond the mound to infield defensive work and coach-hit fungo sessions. The Jaypro Fungo Screen (10 ft. x 10 ft.) and Fungo Screen with Wings, both part of the Big League Series, give coaches a stationary backstop while hitting ground balls and fly balls to infielders and outfielders. For infield-specific reps, the Bownet In-Fielder is a compact, on-field option designed to protect players during ground-ball and short-hop drills, while the Bownet Bodyguard™ Protection Net offers close-in coverage for situations where a full-size screen isn't practical. Facilities running high-rep infield stations often pair a fungo screen with one or two smaller protective nets so multiple groups can work simultaneously.

Fielder's Screens and Varsity Field Screens

Jaypro's Fielder's Screens come in 7 ft. x 7 ft. and 10 ft. x 10 ft. Collegiate builds, sized for coaches hitting fungoes or feeding batting practice from behind protective netting. Douglas rounds out the facility-grade end of the lineup with its Varsity Field Screen in 6′ x 4′ and 10′ x 10′ sizes — the smaller screen suits tighter drill stations or dugout-area protection, while the 10′ x 10′ model gives full-field programs a larger protected footprint for coach-pitch or multi-player drills.

Sizing and Series Guide

Big League Series and Collegiate labels on Jaypro screens generally indicate heavier-duty frames intended for higher-level programs, while short-sided indoor models are built around space constraints rather than pitching level. Matching the series to your program's daily use — daily bullpen turnover versus occasional fungo work — will help determine which build makes sense.

Replacement Nets and Attachments

Screens see heavy contact over a season, so this collection also stocks replacement nets sized to match specific frames: 7 ft. x 7 ft. softball, 7 ft.W x 7 ft.H collegiate, 5 ft.W x 7 ft.H short-sided indoor, and 8 ft. x 8 ft. Big League Series, all in black netting. Rather than replacing an entire frame, programs can swap in a properly sized replacement net to extend the life of an existing screen. Bownet also offers a Zone Counter Attachment built specifically for 7' x 7' nets, letting coaches add strike-zone training to an existing pitching screen setup.
