In short

The Gared 1171 is an electric Adjust-A-Goal height adjuster for single post basketball backstops that sets the backboard anywhere between 8' and 10' at the push of a button. It uses a 1/8 HP, 115 VAC single phase ETL listed gearmotor actuator rated for loads up to 600 lbs with 24" of travel and a 25% duty cycle. Attachment kits and the control kit (hard wire kit or power wand kit) are sold separately.

The 1171 lets a gym serve athletes of all ages from one hoop by electrically adjusting goal height from 8' to 10'. It can be installed on PSS and Gared basketball units as well as many other manufacturers' units, and a height indicator label on the side of the unit shows the setting in 3" increments so the current height is readable from a distance.

Structurally, the vertical tubing lets the slide tubing move without binding, the horizontal structure uses two 2" x 4" x 3/16" thick steel L braces (one at each end), and a 1 1/2" x 3" x 3/16" thick steel tube serves as the direct goal attachment that transfers loads from the backboard to the surrounding framework. All components are welded for stability during normal play, and a spring-activated manual locking mechanism locks the rod in place to eliminate drifting from the set height.

Electrically, the 1.3 amp 115 VAC single phase gear-motor actuator provides smooth reversible linear motion for loads up to 600 lbs with 24" of travel, a 25% duty cycle and factory set cam style limit switches. The installation needs a dedicated 115 VAC, 1 PH, 60 Hz, 15 amp circuit. The unit is furnished in standard flat black finish, should not be painted after shipment, and must be lubricated periodically. Control accessories include the 1158 key switch hardwire kit, 1157 hardwire kit for power wand, 1159 power wand, and 1156 remote control kit.

Warranty

1-Year Limited Warranty (1170/1180 Series Electric Adjust-A-Goals)

Gared Holdings LLC warrants its equipment against defects in material or factory workmanship. Coverage length depends on the product line — this model carries the warranty noted above where listed. Gared's warranty periods run as follows:

Lifetime - Endurance playground systems: in-ground post, extension arm and bracing components.
25 years - Standard Duty and Heavy Duty playground posts (braced gooseneck and adjustable straight post structures).
10 years - volleyball uprights on OmniSteel, OmniLite, RallyLine and GoCourt systems, and economy playground posts.
5 years - FGP series football goalposts, manual and electric winches, curtain hoists and the SafStop gymnasium structure.
4 years - 2500 / 2500I Tournament breakaway goals.
3 years - winch assemblies, floor sleeves and cover plates, and regulation volleyball nets.
2 years - portable winch winders and selected backboards.
1 year - nets, padding, base adapters, height adjusters, badminton and tetherball systems, referee stands and accessories.

The warranty period starts on the date of substantial completion (installation). Defects must be reported to Gared in writing during the warranty period with proof of purchase and the purchase or installation date; Gared will repair or replace the defective equipment at its discretion, with shipping, insurance and installation costs borne by the owner.

Not covered: improper installation, use other than intended, unauthorized alterations or modifications, abuse or misuse, and damage from fire, flood, wind or lightning. Liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective equipment. As an authorized Gared dealer, JoySportStore files warranty claims directly with the manufacturer on your behalf.
