An in-ground basketball hoop is set into a concrete footing, which makes it the most permanent and stable way to play outdoors. Compared with portable or wall-mounted options, in-ground systems handle harder shots, dunking and rebounding without shifting. This category brings together 59 outdoor basketball hoops from five brands, so you can compare backboard size, adjustability, pole dimensions and price in one place. Systems here start at $567 and reach $5,411, covering residential driveways, schoolyards and full-court installations.
The first decision is whether you want a fixed-height or adjustable in-ground basketball goal. Fixed-height models — such as the First Team Brute Select, Sport II, Legend Jr. Extreme BP and the Ironclad Highlight Hoops — lock the rim at regulation 10 feet, which suits older players and competitive play. Adjustable systems let you lower the rim for kids or skill work.
If several ages will share the hoop, an adjustable model gives the most flexibility. For a permanent regulation court, a fixed-height goal keeps things simple.
Backboard size affects rebound area and how the goal looks on a court. In this collection, board sizes in the titles range from 36"x60" up to a full 42"x72" regulation footprint, with Jaypro also offering 54" fan boards. Larger boards give more surface for bank shots and are closer to what you'd see on an indoor competition court.
Materials vary by system and budget:
Perforated boards let wind pass through, which can matter for taller gooseneck systems in open playgrounds. Steel boards tend to sit at the lower end of the price range, while larger acrylic and competition boards run higher.
Pole dimensions and offset determine how far the rim sits from the pole and how much clear space you get under the basket. Jaypro gooseneck systems in this collection use a 4-1/2 in. pole with a 4 ft. offset, moving the pole back from play. The Jaypro Titan uses a heavier 6" x 6" powder-coated pole with a 6 ft. offset for the largest clearance and a competition feel.
A larger offset keeps the pole out of the way under the basket, which is safer for aggressive drives and layups. First Team and Ironclad adjustable systems also list backboard overhang designed to give playing room beyond the baseline. When comparing, look at pole thickness (heavier poles reduce vibration) and offset (bigger offset means more clear space).
Match the hoop to the setting:
In-ground basketball hoops require a concrete footing, so plan for the pole to be set and cured before the backboard and rim are attached. Because these are permanent systems, choose your location carefully — allow room behind the baseline for the offset and space around the court for play. Anchor-bolt systems let you mount and, if needed, remove the upper unit from a preset base, while direct-bury poles are cemented straight into the ground. Always confirm the specific mounting method and included hardware on each product page before you dig, and check local requirements for utility line clearance.
Pricing in this collection spans $567 to $5,411, so there's a fit for tight driveways and full institutional courts alike. Jaypro accounts for the largest share of systems (41), followed by First Team (12), Ironclad (4), and one each from Dominator and Douglas. Entry-level steel-board goals sit near the bottom of the range, while heavy-pole gooseneck and large acrylic or 42"x72" competition systems reach the top. Use the filters and compare offset, board material and adjustment style to find the outdoor basketball hoop that fits your budget and level of play.
