The First Team Astro Express-SBS is a competition volleyball system specifically configured for side-by-side court play, with an entire system weight of 190 lbs. Its uprights are constructed with an external 3 ½” outside diameter, ¼” wall 6063 T-6 aluminum tube and a 3” outside diameter 6061-T6 aluminum telescoping inner pole, featuring a non-marking footpad. Net height is infinitely variable from a minimum of 78” to 96”, adjusted with a single threaded release knob per standard and clearly identified height settings on the inner tube.
The system includes multiple one-meter high black polypropylene 3.5mm knotless woven webbing nets with Kevlar top ropes and polypropylene bottom ropes, finished with white tarpaulin fabric. Net tensioning is managed by a 26:1 ratio worm gear winch for the top rope, a ratcheting style tensioner for the bottom rope, and minimum two ratchet style rope tensioners per end for the net side tape. For player safety, top and bottom ropes are covered with at least ½” thick foam padding, and standards are padded to a minimum 72” height with 1 ½” thick high-density foam in a choice of 12 school colors.
The Astro Express-SBS system comes complete with components for its side-by-side court setup, including multiple nets, winch standards, a center post pad, boundary antennas, and side tape tensioners.
