In short

The Gared 6812 Sleeved Tetherball System is a semi-permanent tetherball setup for school yards, playgrounds and park areas. It pairs a 12' long 2-3/8" O.D. galvanized steel post with a model 6824 ground sleeve and 6825 sleeve cap, so the post can be lifted out and stored when not in use. The system ships complete with post, plated hardware, tetherball and a 9'-10" nylon rope.

Gared's 6812 Sleeved Tetherball System is designed for a semi-permanent installation that lets the tetherball post be removed when play is over. The post is 2-3/8" O.D. x 13 gauge galvanized steel tubing, 12 feet in total length with 2 feet engaged in the ground sleeve, leaving a 10' playing height above grade.

The included model 6824 ground sleeve is built from 13 gauge DOM steel tubing with a 2-5/8" outside diameter and 2-7/16" inside diameter, and is 30 inches long. A horizontal steel bar is welded inside the sleeve at 1'-10 3/4" down its length; it engages a slotted plate welded to the base of the post so the post cannot rotate during play. A model 6825 heavy welded steel cap covers the sleeve whenever the post is removed.

Everything needed to play comes in the box: post, plated hardware, a standard tetherball with 9'-10" nylon rope, ground sleeve and sleeve cap. The concrete foundation is supplied by others; Gared's drawing calls for a 2'-6" deep by 1'-3" diameter footing over gravel. A model 6827 locking sleeve cover is available separately for 2-3/8" diameter sleeves.

Warranty

1-Year Limited Warranty against defects in material or factory workmanship

Gared Holdings LLC warrants its equipment against defects in material or factory workmanship. Coverage length depends on the product line — this model carries the warranty noted above where listed. Gared's warranty periods run as follows:

Lifetime - Endurance playground systems: in-ground post, extension arm and bracing components.
25 years - Standard Duty and Heavy Duty playground posts (braced gooseneck and adjustable straight post structures).
10 years - volleyball uprights on OmniSteel, OmniLite, RallyLine and GoCourt systems, and economy playground posts.
5 years - FGP series football goalposts, manual and electric winches, curtain hoists and the SafStop gymnasium structure.
4 years - 2500 / 2500I Tournament breakaway goals.
3 years - winch assemblies, floor sleeves and cover plates, and regulation volleyball nets.
2 years - portable winch winders and selected backboards.
1 year - nets, padding, base adapters, height adjusters, badminton and tetherball systems, referee stands and accessories.

The warranty period starts on the date of substantial completion (installation). Defects must be reported to Gared in writing during the warranty period with proof of purchase and the purchase or installation date; Gared will repair or replace the defective equipment at its discretion, with shipping, insurance and installation costs borne by the owner.

Not covered: improper installation, use other than intended, unauthorized alterations or modifications, abuse or misuse, and damage from fire, flood, wind or lightning. Liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective equipment. As an authorized Gared dealer, JoySportStore files warranty claims directly with the manufacturer on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions

Can the tetherball post be removed when it is not in use?

Yes. The 6812 is a sleeved system: the post drops into the included 6824 ground sleeve and lifts back out for storage. The 6825 heavy welded steel cap then covers the open sleeve.

What keeps the post from spinning during play?

A slotted plate is welded to the base of the post and engages a horizontal steel bar welded inside the sleeve at 1'-10 3/4" down its length, so the post stays put instead of rotating.

Is a tetherball and rope included, and is concrete required?

A standard tetherball with a 9'-10" nylon rope is included along with the post, plated hardware, ground sleeve and cap. The concrete foundation is supplied by others.
