In short

The Gared 4002 Electric Curtain Hoist is a motorized winch that raises and lowers gym divider curtains and multi-sport cages. It uses a 3/4 HP, 115 V AC, 60 Hz single-phase instant-reverse motor with thermal overload protection, a 200:1 double worm gear reduction rated to 2,700 in-lbs of torque, and a three-position momentary contact key switch. It is designed for use with Gared 4020 and 4030 divider curtains and the 4080 / 4080BL multi-sport cage.

The 4002 hoist is built around a 3/4 horsepower instant-reverse motor with thermal overload protection. The double worm gear design holds the curtain in any position in the event of a power failure, and the gear box is filled with oil and completely sealed at the factory, with precision ball bearings inside a machined aluminum gear case.

Operation is by a three-position momentary contact switch, which is included; rotary counting limit switches control raising and lowering, with heavy duty gear-driven upper and lower limits good for a maximum of 50 turns. The hoist is pre-wired and comes complete with a 6' cord, twist-lock L14-20 plug and L14-20 receptacle. The 4" receptacle box, conduits, wiring and other junction components are supplied by the electrical contractor.

The hoist may be mounted in any direction and weighs 47 lbs. The key switch must be located where the curtain is visible to the operator but not directly under the curtain. A wireless remote receiver or the TSC Total System Control can be added, sold separately. The unit is not to be used for lifting people, and is not recommended for lifting objects over people without a safety locking device or automatic fall arrester.

Warranty

5-Year Limited Warranty on the Model 4002 curtain electric hoist

Gared Holdings LLC warrants its equipment against defects in material or factory workmanship. Coverage length depends on the product line — this model carries the warranty noted above where listed. Gared's warranty periods run as follows:

Lifetime - Endurance playground systems: in-ground post, extension arm and bracing components.
25 years - Standard Duty and Heavy Duty playground posts (braced gooseneck and adjustable straight post structures).
10 years - volleyball uprights on OmniSteel, OmniLite, RallyLine and GoCourt systems, and economy playground posts.
5 years - FGP series football goalposts, manual and electric winches, curtain hoists and the SafStop gymnasium structure.
4 years - 2500 / 2500I Tournament breakaway goals.
3 years - winch assemblies, floor sleeves and cover plates, and regulation volleyball nets.
2 years - portable winch winders and selected backboards.
1 year - nets, padding, base adapters, height adjusters, badminton and tetherball systems, referee stands and accessories.

The warranty period starts on the date of substantial completion (installation). Defects must be reported to Gared in writing during the warranty period with proof of purchase and the purchase or installation date; Gared will repair or replace the defective equipment at its discretion, with shipping, insurance and installation costs borne by the owner.

Not covered: improper installation, use other than intended, unauthorized alterations or modifications, abuse or misuse, and damage from fire, flood, wind or lightning. Liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective equipment. As an authorized Gared dealer, JoySportStore files warranty claims directly with the manufacturer on your behalf.
